‘We are due to get married and we have Corsica to thank for that’

Tom and I met at the Tief music label night on Saturday 25th Jan, 2014. Bicep were headlining. We were there with our respective groups of friends who we go out dancing with - I was celebrating my birthday which was on the 23rd and Tom had travelled down from Cambridge. I had been to Corsica many times over the years and seen so many of my favourite DJs there while it turned out to be Tom's first time, but he trusted his friends' judgement who had been before and knew it was the place to hear new and interesting sounds always with an amazing crowd and atmosphere. We found out later that we had both been pretty curious about Bicep (this was of course, before they were huge) and really wanted to check them out. We exchanged some glances at each other on the dancefloor - I think it was fairly early on in the night - and became inseparable, connecting even more over chats in the smoking area. Bicep ended up being fantastic and it was an all-around great night out. I remember giving Tom my number that night and hoping that he would call soon. A couple days later I got a message from him on Facebook and I thought it was a bit odd that he was messaging me there instead of texting, and I realised that I also probably didn't tell him my surname.

Well, it turns out that Tom actually lost his phone that night and he was so desperate to find me that he trawled through hundreds of RSVPs on the Facebook event to find me! Needless to say, I was flattered by his determination and soon after we met up for our first date. Fast forward seven years and we are still together and getting married in October this year! I suppose in a way we have Bicep to thank for our meeting and maybe even Facebook too, but ultimately Corsica is responsible for being the special place that it is where like-minded and like-hearted souls can connect through music and dancing. It's been a place where we've shared countless good times since and will always hold great significance for us.
