‘Good things come to those who dance’

That first time that I went to the Hacienda, January 1990 for my 20th. Graeme Park and Mike Pickering. It was like going to "church".

A solo mission to Manchester led to a music making partnership.

It was the summer of 92, on one of my many trips to Manchester. I ended up in Hacienda on my own as a mate had let me down earlier, which was cool because I always bump into people that I know.

I remember hearing TC 1991-Berry and being carried away by this tune. A girl on the stage remarked to me "you’re a good dancer". I said "yeah and where's your boyfriend?’ She turned around and pointed across the stage to her fella sweating like a bastard. Her name was Caroline and she introduced me to her boyfriend Ken. We got chatting and turns out that he was a professor of music technology at the Royal Academy of Music and he was in charge of the studios. After a while of shouty conversation turns out he was living near Wembley less than a mile from me. We went on to make music together. I always thought only I could travel 200 miles up the motorway and meet people that live down the road from you.
