I started going to raves when I was 14 back in 1992. Those early years of rave were all about peace, love and unity and as a very impressionable teenager I took those values on board.

We started mulletover in 2004 and ran it for 10 years, we have done a few small shows for friends and family since, but that was the peak years of the party. The first party was in a warehouse next to where I was living at the time at the bottom of Brick Lane. I had converted an old toy shop into a make-shift club space, it operated over 3 floors and held about 500 people - no license, no promotion, just word of mouth (this was obviously pre-social media as well!). Geddes, Kelly Love and Jafar were planning their first mulletover party at The Fortress Studios in Shoreditch. They lost that venue and the stars aligned and brought us all together for the first event. Geddes was quite unimpressed with the makeshift nature of the venue (there was quite a big hole in the floor of the room they were using), but he put up with it, the party happened and mulletover was born!

The forest party we did in West London was pretty legendary, our mates Darren, Spencer and Danny kindly let us use a space where they had been doing parties for a while. The police came down when we were setting up and basically told us not to do the party, me and Geddes then proceeded to spend the next few hours arguing about whether to do the party or not (luckily I won and it happened). We then had the next issue of lugging a huge generator over a bridge to the site (I think it took about 8 of us to lift it) as well as loads of lighting, props, booze, etc before nervously waiting to see if anybody came. Fortunately they did and we finally finished up at about 9am the next morning and had to carry the generator all the way back again - which wasn’t fun after raving for 10 hours

The dance floor has defined my life, I started going to raves when I was 14 back in 1992, going off to big all night open air events like Fantazia and Universe. The unity and freedom of those early events, dancing all night under the stars and meeting people from all over the country helped shape me as a person. Those early years of rave were all about peace, love and unity and as a very impressionable teenager I took those values on board. As I grew up the parties were the only constant in my life no matter what I was doing, where I was living the rave was a feature. I’ve met most of my girlfriends, my best friends, lots of people who are now a significant part of my life on the dance floor. I must admit, before this happened, I was maybe a bit jaded with partying, i’ve done my time, I only go out a handful of times a year now, but it is the one thing I am most looking forward to when the lockdown is over. There is just no substitute to dancing with your friends to amazing music, meeting new people and having a shared experience that will be with you for years to come
